Founded in 1938, The Nankai Hawks were one of the most successful Japanese Baseball franchises in the first two decades of the history of the Pacific League. Early in their history they won 2 Japan Series championships, and 10 Pacific League pennants. Soon after the Hawks fell from grace, finishing no better than the 4th place out of 6 teams in the league every year from 1978 to 1988. As a result the fan base, attendance and the profits crumbled. Mr. Den Kawakatsu, then-president of the Nankai Electric Railway Co. and owner of the Hawks flatly refused to sell the Hawks, despite their miserable performance. When Mr Kawakatsu passed away in 1988 the team was sold to the Daiei corporation, to become the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks. NEW ERA Japan has revived the glory years of the team with this throwback Classic Nankin Hawks 59Fifty fitted baseball caps.
