“King Oak was brainstormed in February 2009 in apartment 1704, downtown Toronto. Since then this apartment has been our office/home, and not the other way around. The King Oak brand is our representation of city culture through limited tees, garments and accessories. Toronto is one of the best cities in the world because of its multiculturalism and its “work-hard, play-hard” attitude. Our goal was to create limited designs, which captured that same spirit (emphasis on play-hard). We wanted to ensure the natural aspects of city living weren’t forgotten so as a constant reminder we incorporated it in our name. While a lot of words could be used, Oak instantly stood out. King is not an elitism stance, but instead a reference to confidence and unwavering standards. We aren’t trying to say we are the kings of anything but ourselves. Hopefully we spread that same confidence and inspiration to our friends and our community.”
