The art of art

As a designer I am in front of the computer for the vast majority of my day.  The constant pressure of deadlines, comps, design sketches and proofs, meetings and dealing with clients changes can get to be a little mundane and stressful.  Before I know it, sometimes i find myself just going through the paces and not enjoying the art of designing.  I guess it can happen with anything that you do  over and over again.  Sometimes i take it for granted that i get to make art on a daily basis.

I have come to the realization that it is important to create art just for the sake of creating art.  A personal relief of sorts.  I just started a design class which forces us to  get to the essence of designing, which is to just be free and create with no restrictions.  So now every thursday night i get to just sit down and make art! Its such a great feeling to just mess around and let loose.  So as i look forward to my thursday night i see this artists wall full of every shade of color pencil you might ever need and gawk in amazement.  That is a pretty fresh collection of colors that could come in very handy!  We would like to see what your work station set up looks like, so if you have pics of your stations send them in.
